10 artists/bands that would be fun at an office party
Here’s my contribution to the list posting: “10 artists/bands that would be fun at an office party”.
Living Musicians
—————-
Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
- Sorry Paul. The women might disagree, but I think Ringo’s more fun.
Ray Manzarek (The Doors)
- Every time I see this keyboardist interviewed I am impressed by his insights and his cool.
Eric Clapton (Cream)
- One of my all time favourites.
Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones)
- The definition of aging party animal.
Gord Downie (The Tragically Hip)
- A night of Gord’s poetry or ramblings is worth more than his weight in silver.
Annie Lennox (Eurythmics)
- Annie oozes cool. She’s the female David Bowie.
Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders)
- A real musician, innovator and bandleader. Plays a mean Telecaster.
Sarah McLachlan (-)
- One of the greatest ballad writers of modern Canadian music, and a good musician to boot.
Melissa Etheridge (-)
- Even during her chemotherapy, Melissa could still put any of the men on my list to shame.
Sarah Harmer (-)
- I wouldn’t want to be the only one at the party under age 40.
Dead Musicians
————–
John Lennon (The Beatles)
- Need I Explain?
Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
- Seriously cool.
Jim Morrison (The Doors)
- Death only made him cooler.
Freddie Mercury (Queen)
- The man knew how to party.
Frank Zappa (The Mothers of Invention)
- One of the greatest, most prolific innovators of all time.
Janis Joplin (Big Brother and the Holding Company)
- No one could belt out a tune with more feeling than Janis.
Mama Cass Elliot (The Mamas & the Papas)
- All sandwiches aside, she was a great singer.
Dusty Springfield (-)
- Talented enough for a son of a preacher man.
Eva Cassidy (-)
- virtually unknown in her lifetime, she was posthumously called “one of the greatest voices of her generation” by The Guardian
Janis Martin (-)
- Earned every syllable of her nickname, “The Female Elvis”.

Gilan,
Great post. I’m totally on board with bringing Gord Downie…he puts on a show wherever he is.
And…Freddy Mercury…yeah he knew how to party.
