Beatles Track “The Night Before” (1965)

by gisrael on February 26th, 2008

Beatles on Salisbury Plain, shooting Help!, from beatlesuits.com

The second track of the album "Help!" is Paul McCartney’s upbeat bluesy tune "The Night Before". The lyrics deal with a breakup that happened in the last 24 hours, much like another, far more famous Paul track off "Help!", "Yesterday". Stylistically though, the songs are very different.

The instrumentation features a Pianet electric piano and bass lines that rise and fall. Paul’s lead vocal is double-tracked, with John Lennon and George Harrison singing harmony. The song ends with a brief George guitar solo.

In The Beatles film "Help!", the band performs the song on the Salisbury Plain.

    Hi,

Nice picture! Haven’t seen that one before.

Also just a short note to let you know about the 3rd Annual Maritime Beatle Event in Halifax, Nova Scotia hosted by Hal Bruce, a long time Beatle performer who plays the Cavern in Liverpool every year at the festival.

I have the info on my site.

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers,
    Kim
