Jeff Healey, a Canadian guitar legend, died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. He was 41. Healey contracted retinal cancer as a baby and was blind by age one. He taught himself to play guitar, starting at 3 years old. He will be remembered most for his unconventional playing style, holding standard guitars flat on his lap and forming chords with his fingers (as opposed to lap-slide).

Healey released six rock albums from 1988-2000, and had a major hit with the single “Angel Eyes” from the first album. He then ventured into Jazz, which he preferred, releasing three more albums. His final album sees him return to rock. “Mess of Blues” is set to be released in April.
