In the same 1964 meeting with Rickenbacker president F. C. Hall in New York, John Lennon requested a 12-string version of the 325. In March of that year, Rickenbacker shipped the one-of-a-kind guitar to John in London. This guitar was identical in all respects to the 1964 Rickenbacker 325 Jetglo, aside from headstock and tailpiece which were swapped to accommodate twelve strings.
John used this guitar for studio sessions of “Beatles for Sale” and as a backup on the road. It saw rare live use on Dutch TV and in a Boston concert, both in 1964. The guitar remains in the possession of the Lennon Estate.
