One Year of All Things Beatles - Beginnings

In June 2007, I was an underworked computer programmer, looking for a new job, with a lot of time on my hands. My sister was blogging with b5media and suggested I give it a shot. She knew I was a huge fan of music and particularly Classic Rock, and that b5 was about to launch some new music blogs. When I heard that The Beatles was an available topic, I pounced on it. The Beatles have long been one of my favourite bands and I figured there’s tonnes of material about them. I was a tad concerned about keeping it fresh and exciting, seeing as they disbanded almost 40 years ago and two of them are dead, but I thought I’d give it a shot.

So far, blogging about The Beatles, their albums, their songs, their films, their wives, their instruments and their lives has been a challenge - but a fun, rewarding one. It never became my primary source of income - I found a steady programming job shortly thereafter - but it’s been a good hobby.

Check out some of the earliest entries from when this blog was young:

  • The Beatles Prehistory
    • My very first post, and exactly what the title suggests. No images, no links, just the story of The Beatles before they were The Beatles.
  • John, Paul, George, and Ringo
    • Four entries with brief biographies of the four guys from Liverpool. First use of photos.
  • George Martin, Brian Epstein, and The Other Beatles
    • Three entries with bios of other influential people in the early days of The Beatles.
  • After those I started three series (click links to see first entries)

Enjoy.
