Ringo Starr vs. Regis and Kelly

Ringo is not an easy man to anger, but the producers of “Regis and Kelly” made a special effort. Ringo was set to appear on their Tuesday morning programme with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. They planned to perform a 4.25 minute track from Ringo’s new album “Liverpool 8″ and have a short interview as well. But shortly before the show began, Ringo was informed that he only had 2.5 minutes. Ringo tried to compromise by cutting the song down to 3.5 minutes, reducing the interview portion, and even allowing a fade to commercial during the song, but “Regis and Kelly”’s producers would have none of it. So Ringo told them “God bless and goodbye. We still love Regis,” and walked off the set. Read CNN’s coverage of Ringo vs. Regis and Kelly here.

Do you think he did the right thing? I would have told them where to shove their 2.5 minutes, and I would not have been willing to cut the song at all. That’s like asking Michelangelo to cut David’s legs off to make him fit in a closet.

What’s your opinion?
