In this edition of our weekly look at Beatles history, John Lennon and Paul McCartney have some firsts and some lasts.
April 20 - 1970. Paul McCartney releases his first solo album after the breakup of The Beatles, entitled McCartney.
April 21 - 1967. Last studio session for Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
April 22 - 1969. John officially changes his name to John Ono Lennon.
April 23 - 1960. Paul and John play a duet at a pub in Berkshire, under the name The Nerk Twins.
April 24 - 1964. Filming is completed for “A Hard Day’s Night”.
April 25 - 1967. Recording sessions begin for Magical Mystery Tour.
April 26 - 1963. The first Beatles album, “Please Please Me”, is re-released in stereo.
