This Week in Beatles History
July 1 - 1963. The band begins recording sessions for the single “She Loves You” / “I’ll Get You”.
July 2 - 1965. The band arrives in Madrid and plays a show at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas.
July 3 - 1966. The band begins a disastrous trip to the Philippines. That week, Brian Epstein unintentionally insulted the wife of the President, police protection was removed, and the band had to push their way through a hostile crowd to get to their plane. Epstein was forced off the plane and had to give back all the money they had earned in the country before leaving.
July 4 - 1963. The band appears on the BBC show “The Beat Show”.
July 5 - 1966. The band leaves the Philippines and heads to India.
July 6 - 1956. John’s band The Quarrymen play a party at St. Peter’s Woolton Parish Church. He meets Paul, who is at the party.
July 7 - 1940. Richard “Ringo Starr” Starkey is born.
