Track - “Baby’s in Black”

The third track of the so-called "Lennon Trilogy" that opens "Beatles for Sale", is "Baby’s in Black." It was inspired by German photographer Astrid Kirchner, who had a relationship with bassist Stuart Sutcliffe while the early Beatles were in Hamburg. Kirchner supposedly never got over Sutcliffe’s sudden death from a brain hemorrhage.
When recording the track, John and Paul sang simultaneously in one microphone, to give a live feel to the performance. While Paul sang the higher part, when their publisher asked which was the melody. and which the harmony, he said that both were the melody.
