Track - “I Call Your Name”

“I Call Your Name” is a John tune, originally written for and recorded by Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas. John did not like the Dakotas rendition (which hit #1 as the B-side of another Lennon/McCartney penned tune), and decided that the song deserved another chance.
The Beatles recorded the song on 1 March 1964, and released it as the second track on side two of their US LP “The Beatles’ Second Album”. Unusually, it was not released in the UK as a single or on a major Beatles album. It did appear on the UK EP “Long Tall Sally” (released 19 June 1964) along with three cover tunes.
The solo is played over a reggae rhythm, a sound almost unheard to date by American or European audiences.
