Track - “I Saw Her Standing There”

I Saw Her Standing There (B-Side), from cool78s.com

For the first track of their debut album, The Beatles selected "I Saw Her Standing There". The original idea for the song was Paul’s, and he would sing lead, but John had a large part in the writing process.

"I had ‘She was just seventeen,’ and then ‘Beauty queen’. When I showed it to John, he screamed with laughter, and said, ‘You’re joking about that line, aren’t you?’" - Paul

On the "Please Please Me" album, the song begins with Paul’s count-in "one two three FOUR!" George Martin decided to leave it in to start off the album with a bang, and to give a taste of the band’s live act. "I Saw Her Standing There" was reissued as the opening track of The Beatles first album to be released in the US, "Introducing… The Beatles", as the B-side to their first single in the US, "I Want to Hold Your Hand", and on their second US album (first on Capitol Records), "Meet The Beatles!"
